And among them, there are some who listen to you, but as soon as they leave you, they ask those who are endowed with Knowledge, “What did he say just now?” Such are those upon whose hearts Allah has sealed, and they follow their whims.
This verse depicts the approach of the Hypocrites towards the Lord’s Message and thereby towards the Messenger in his time. The same approach is shown by Hypocrites of all periods who are satisfied with this worldly life and who are not ready to hear or read Adhikr praying with the soul, “O my Lord! Increase me in Knowledge,” and who are not ready to follow It in the best manner. They attend classes where Adhikr is explained in the language of the heart only for the interest of others.
